St Luke's Church, Lower Whitley

We have Holy Communion two Sundays of the month. Subsequent services comprise Family Services and Morning Prayers. If we have a fifth Sunday we then have a combined Holy Communion with St Peter’s and St Michael’s All Angels.
Our Mothers’ Union, led by Annie Warburton, meet on the second Wednesday of the month usually in the Village Hall. Members come from Whitley, Little Leigh, Antrobus and surrounding areas. St Luke’s and Aston Mothers Union members also meet together twice a year.
We are grateful to parishioners including those who do not worship regularly for the help they give us in cleaning the church, maintaining and mowing the churchyard and flower arranging.
Our main fund raising events are the Harvest Lunch, again attended by many villagers. The Ride and Stride also raises money for the Church with individual participants being sponsored.
The Garden Fete, held in the Vicarage garden, is always well attended and looked forward to by many who come annually.
Northwich has an annual Charity Market at which we have a stall and sell produce.
Our congregation is small and consists of mostly older ladies; those who regularly attend are very supportive and can look to previous attendees and many villagers for support throughout the year.
We endeavour to maintain contact with all the community as we think holding the inhabitants together is an essential function of our Church; especially as we are the only one in our small village.
